About Us
The Animal Rights Alliance Inc., was founded to help abandoned and homeless animals. We started out by trapping, neutering and finding homes for cats and dogs. We helped others find homes for unwanted pets, and made sure all were spayed and neutered prior to adoption. This was time-consuming and painstaking. We came to realize that we made a difference for those few animals but were not attacking the more serious problem of pet overpopulation. While we were saving one, thousands were reproducing. It was like a full pail of water with a hole in its bottom!
We also realized that the only two ways to stop pet overpopulation were to raise the death rate or lower the birth rate. We opted for the latter.
On March 26th 2002, we rolled out our mobile spay/neuter clinic, for the first time, and spayed and neutered ten females and nine males. It was definitely a learning curve, but with the help of experienced veterinarians and a proficient staff dedicated to the cause, our program grew and has been growing. Presently, we have exceeded spaying and neutering over 22,000 cats in just over six years. We can perform as many as 60 spays and neuters in one day, something we never realized could be done. In time, we would like to open a stationary clinic for dogs, but this will require a considerable amount of additional funding. Until then we will continue to spay and neuter as many cats as we possibly can. |
