Be Part of the Solution

"Public awareness on the importance of
spaying and neutering is the key to
alleviating dog and cat overpopulation.
Once individuals are educated on the
seriousness of the overpopulation problems,
then the spay/neuter solution will really work."

Town Programs:

T.A.R.A. has contracts with several townships, which allow these towns to offer spay and neuter services through reduced-cost voucher programs to their residents. Our first contract was established with the town of Mamakating in 2003. Several more towns have signed on throughout the years. Since the inception of these programs, over 8,200 public cats have been spayed and neutered for participating town residents.

Below are a list of towns that have contracted with us to offer town-subsidized spay/neuter certificates to their residents:

Town of Bethel: Contact the Town Clerk at (845) 583-4350.

Town of Chester and the Town of Warwick:
Contact the Warwick Valley Humane Society at (845) 986-2473.

The town programs have been working very successfully. TARA is very interested in contracting with additional townships to help make spaying and neutering much more affordable to their residents. We need you to help by approaching your local town officials and asking them to get involved with our town-subsidized, certificate program by having them contact us. We have sample proposals available to send to any town, as requested.

Prepaying Online:

While many people choose to pay the morning of their appointment, we also offer the option to prepay with a credit or debit card through PayPal. There is a minimal processing fee. Once you make your online payment you must call to schedule a standard appointment with us. Any additional services (distemper vaccine, flea treatment, etc.) must be purchased the morning of your appointment. Online payments are not accepted at special events. If you have any questions about payment method, please do not hesitate to contact us. Prepayments must be used within 60 days.

T.A.R.A. Trap Loaner Program:

For feral and hard-to-catch cats, we loan a trap for a $70.00 cash deposit. When said cat is brought to us for a spay, the trap deposit is used in lieu of payment for the procedure. Trap(s) must be returned at this time. We will also return a trap deposit if a cat is not caught and said trap is returned in good condition.
